Heitel serial interface now available for Genesis
December 2011
Luminite has integrated Heitel’s network communications protocol into its Genesis range. Genesis wireless PIR systems can now be managed using Heitel transmission, recording and control equipment. They can also be managed using Heitel’s single, multi-site, mobile and control centre software solutions. Recently acquired by Xtralis, Heitel digital recording equipment and software is used in CCTV applications worldwide.
Heitel joins a list of well-known CCTV manufacturers already integrated with Luminite’s Genesis wireless PIR systems, including DM, IMMIX, Panasonic and Vista.
”Heitel products now have access to PIR alarm and tamper functionality using a RS232 serial interface,” explains Graham Creek, Managing Director of Luminite. “A Genesis Masthead coordinates data from multiple wireless PIR detectors. Intrusion detection alarms, anti-shock and anti-cloaking tampers can be controlled directly from Heitel products. When used in conjunction with IMMIX software and connected via a network, management alerts can also be controlled remotely. Intruder alarms and tampers can alert key-holders or CCTV system operators to events in real-time. Management alerts, like PIR battery strength and weak wireless signal, can proactively remind an installer that a routine site maintenance visit is due. In other systems, alarms and management alerts are not separated, making false alarms more common.”
Heitel users also benefit from being able to map multiple PIR detectors to each video channel. An automatic, electronic “health-check” will verify the correct operation of all the PIRs within the Genesis system, every few seconds.
