A POWERFUL NEW WIRELESS PIR DELIVERS
HIGH PERFORMANCE AND SIGNIFICANT COST SAVINGS
PRESS RELEASE APRIL 2008
Luminite Electronics have launched their new GENESIS
Wireless Key Point for remote monitored CCTV sites.
The advantage with a wireless key point over hard wired
alternatives is that it significantly reduces installation
costs and provides the flexibility of a portable key
point as well.
The new system is fully duplex allowing the operator
to get conformation of whether the system has been set
or un-set. The system is secure by way of a five digit
PIN providing 100,000 differs. The radio transmission
is fully encrypted and the encryption key is changed
on each transmission. This method ensures the highest
security. If a wrong PIN is entered more than three
times a relay will open on the receiver.
There are two types of key point, Static and Portable
and any number of mixed key points may be used on any
one system. Both models are powered by a 9 volt PP3
lithium battery (not supplied) which provides over two
years of operation on an average site. The static model
is in a carbon fibre finish and is waterproof to IP66.
Both portable and static models have an operating range
of up to 300 metres and the static model incorporates
anti tamper. For more information on Genesis system

LONDON, 2 FEBRUARY 2007 - Luminite Electronics, the
UK's leading manufacturer of intelligent Passive Infra
Red detectors, has launched Genesis, an exciting new
wireless solution. Costing less than traditional solutions,
this new PIR offers a range of powerful and innovative
features and will meet the requirements of the most
demanding CCTV and security applications
The Genesis wireless PIR has an improved detection
range with a choice of four different lenses to meet
most installation applications. In addition, it can
transmit signals well beyond 1 km depending on environmental
conditions and, with the use of repeaters, will achieve
more than ten kilometres. Using wireless PIR detectors
enables installations to easily conform with BS8418
standards which requires all PIRs to be installed in
view of cameras and looking inwards. The unit is battery
operated with an operational life of up to two years
before they need changing.
Genesis features a new algorithm that increases sensitivity
whilst reducing incidences of false alarms from events
such as moving trees, sunlight reflection, flapping
tarpaulins and plastic bags. There is also an anti-
cloaking feature as well as shock sensing and anti-tamper.
Uniquely Genesis offers a remote text output that enables
alarm messages to be recorded onto video pictures using
a DVR. These alarm messages can also be viewed in the
monitoring centre alerting staff if attention to a particular
unit is required.
Genesis is ideal for larger deployments as up to 64
PIRs can be connected on a single system for maximum
coverage. In addition to event detection and tamper
alerts, each unit transmits a wide range of data including
battery condition, unit ID and pulse count setting,
which enables the sensitivity of each PIR to be tailored
to local conditions. This data can also be received
using an optional handheld instrument enabling systems
to be quickly and easily walk tested or configured by
a single person.
According to Graham Creek, Managing Director of Luminite
Electronics: "The new Genesis PIR has a range of
advanced features and delivers improved performance
without requiring costly dual technology systems. It
will enable installers to increase the resilience and
reliability of their systems whilst achieving compliance
with BS8418."
Genesis is one of the strongest PIRs currently available
with a waterproof casing constructed throughout from
polycarbonate, offering greater robustness and resistance
to cracking. Genesis does not use any metal ball joints
to eliminate the fatigue and fracturing that often occurs
as a result of corrosion on traditional units. In addition,
build quality is maintained to the highest standard
using the latest SMT techniques and gold plated circuitry
for greater reliability.
